Stephens Beef Cattle is a family owned operation located 50 miles northeast of Lexington in Ewing, Kentucky. Jeff and Angie have two children that are very actively involved in the farming operation. Morgan is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky and Jordan is a freshman in high school. They are no strangers to the show ring and compete on the local, state and national level.
We have been involved with raising cattle for many years. Today, we maintain 75 Angus, SimAngus, and Simmental cows and 100 commercial cows that are used as recipients for embryo transplant. Females are marketed through consignment sales and private treaty. Bulls are marketed through the Genetic Advantage joint bull sale with Rocking P Livestock in March at the Paris Stockyards.
Our business expands beyond the cattle operation with Stephens Hay & Straw, LLC. This consists of about 100 acres of alfalfa and alfalfa orchard grass that is produced and sold to the thoroughbred race horse industry. Our market exceeds what we are able to produce so we also buy and resale several hundred tons of hay and straw each year.
Our goal is to produce easy fleshing, functional cattle, that will work in any setting, whether in the show ring or out in the pasture.
